Trump mocks ‘Phony Kamala’ Harris as vice presidential opponent ‘everyone dreams of’
“Phony Kamala” is my dream opponent!
President Trump wasted little time going after Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif) on Wednesday, branding the newly minted Democratic vice-presidential candidate as “weak” and giving her one of his trademark derisive playground nicknames.
“Kamala Harris started strong in the Democrat Primaries, and finished weak, ultimately fleeing the race with almost zero support,” Trump tweeted. “That’s the kind of opponent everyone dreams of!”
Trump claimed he was “surprised” that Biden picked Harris because she dropped out of the Democratic primary race early after her campaign flopped.
“I’ve been watching her for a long time, and I was a little surprised,” he said.
Trump pushed out a Republican attack ad that blistered the Democratic ticket as a bridge to the “radical left.”
The 30-second video depicted Harris as a puppet of the far left who supposedly embraced Bernie Sanders’ signature “Medicare for All” health plan and plans to impose “trillions in new taxes.”
“Slow Joe and Phony Kamala. Perfect together,” the ad intones. “Wrong for America.”
In conflicting messages, the Republican National Committee statements took the opposite tack, focusing on criticism that Harris has taken from progressives for not being liberal enough and being a “cop,” a jibe at her record as California Attorney General.
“Liberals revolt against Biden, Harris ticket,” wrote Republican operative Steve Guest in a blog post on GOP.com.
