Off-duty NYPD cop shoots man forcing way into his Long Island home

An off-duty Queens cop was being questioned Saturday after he shot a man forcing his way into his Long Island home, the Daily News has learned.

The cop, who is assigned to the 115th Precinct in Jackson Heights, was inside his West Babylon home with his family Friday night when the unidentified suspect tried to enter, a police source with knowledge of the case said.

The officer fired one round, hitting the would-be intruder in the face, sources said.

Medics rushed the suspect to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

No criminal charges were immediately filed.
