Texas man shares video drinking behind wheel moments before deadly car crash

A Texas man involved in a deadly car crash that claimed the lives of all three of his passengers shared video of himself drinking behind the wheel just minutes before the accident.

The clip, shared to Facebook Sunday just before 8 a.m., sees Camilo Morejon enjoying a beer while driving his silver Honda in the Jersey Village area. The 47-year-old can be heard saying in Spanish that he is better behind the wheel while under the influence, prosecutors told Click2Houston.

Less than 10 minutes later, Morejon’s car slammed into a black pickup truck, killing his girlfriend and two other people inside at the time. The driver of the other vehicle was also critically injured and remained hospitalized on Wednesday.

The crash was additionally captured on video by a nearby surveillance camera, which showed Morejon speeding before the collision.

Harris County prosecutor Sean Teare told the news station both videos give authorities a clear insight into the deadly crash and what caused it.

“It’s very rare that we see actions of the defendant that close in time to a horrific crash like that, but it’s what happens,” he said. “It’s what goes on moments before lives are lost.”

Morejon was charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of intoxication assault, prosecutors said. He will face additional charges should the other driver succumb to their injuries.
