Kevin Durant fires back at Scottie Pippen after Bulls champion accuses him of costing Nets Game 7 win over Bucks

Kevin Durant wasn’t about to let Scottie Pippen tell him about himself.

Pippen said the difference between Durant and LeBron James was that Durant “didn’t know how to play team basketball.” He ultimately said that trait was what cost Durant and the Nets their series against the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 7.

“KD, as great as his offense was, it turned out to be his worst enemy,” Pippen said in an interview with GQ posted Thursday. “He kept trying to go punch for punch. Have you ever seen LeBron take a shot like that? He ain’t gonna take that shot. He’s gonna be smarter. He’s gonna force a double. That’s what KD wasn’t able to do.”

Durant made a last second long two in regulation that would have been a game-winning three if he hadn’t taken the shot right on the three-point arc. After sending the game into overtime, Durant tried to win the game for the Nets with another last second three-point shot, which fell short. The Bucks beat the Nets 115-111 to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Durant fired back after reading some of what Pippen said on Twitter.

“Didn’t the great Scottie Pippen refuse to go in the game for the last second shot because he was in his feelings his coach drew up the play for a better shooter,” Durant tweeted. “This guy Scott also wanted to enjoy his summer so he chose to rehab during the season lol yo @ScottiePippen THEY FOLLOWED PHIL, NOT YOU!!!”

Pippen won six championships with Michael Jordan’s dynasty Bulls in the 1990s. His interview with the magazine covered everything from his new bourbon to his former teammates, Durant and Ben Simmons.

“LeBron ain’t KD, and KD ain’t LeBron. KD is a shooter, a scorer. But he doesn’t have what LeBron has,” Pippen also said.
