Elliot Page files for divorce from wife Emma Portner in Manhattan
“Juno” and “Umbrella Academy” star Elliot Page has filed for divorce from wife Emma Portner, according to court records.
The Oscar-nominated actor, 33, filed paperwork Tuesday in Manhattan Supreme Court, with the case listed as contested.
The news comes nearly two months after Page shared on social media that he is transgender.
“I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life,” Page wrote in aDec. 1 Twitter post.
“I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey. I can’t begin to express how remarkable it feels to finally love who I am enough to pursue my authentic self,” Page wrote.
Portner, 26, a professional dancer and choreographer, publicly supported Page’s decision, saying she was “so proud.”
Attempts to reach Page’s lawyer, Robert Dobrish, were not immediately successful.
Page and Portner, a dancer and choreographer, announced their marriage in January 2018.
Portner previously expressed her love and support following Page’s public statement last month. “I am so proud of @elliotpage. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world. I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day,” Portner wrote on Instagram.
“Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much,” Portner wrote.
