Adjunct professor at NYU engineering school goes missing in Manhattan
An adjunct professor at New York University’s Tandem School of Engineering has been missing from his Upper West Side home since Saturday and police are asking the public’s help finding him.
Suryanarayan “Suri” Hedge, 76, was last seen about 8 p.m. Sunday at his apartment on West. 83rd St. near West End Ave. He was reported missing the next day.
In a post on the neighborhood-based social media site Nextdoor.com Hedge’s wife said he suffers from “some dementia.”
“Please help me find my husband who has wandered off. He was last seen in the vicinity of Columbia,” she wrote. “His bag has been found so he is traveling without his phone or ID.”
Hedge is listed as an adjunct professor of applied physics at the Tanden School.
He’s 5-foot-5 and 110 pounds and was last seen wearing a black hat, a black jacket and dark pants, cops said.
Police ask anyone with information about his whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
