Woman walking on Manhattan street slashed in unprovoked attack
A woman was slashed with a box cutter in an unprovoked attack while she was walking in Midtown Sunday morning.
It happened around 10 a.m. near Seventh Avenue and 42nd Street.
Police say the 59-year-old victim was pulling a bag behind her when a man suddenly slashed her across the hand.
The man then took off on foot.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment.
She often uses the train station here nearby but is so shaken up she took the day off from work.
The victim is Asian, but the NYPD Hate Crimes Unit is not involved in the investigation at this time.
No arrests have been made.
