Mega Millions: $940M jackpot up for grabs in Friday night’s drawing

The Mega Millions grand prize jackpot has climbed once again and is surely nearing $1 billion.

No one won the big $820 million jackpot in Tuesday night’s drawing, so the jackpot has grown to $940 million. There is a cash option of $472.5 million.

Tuesday’s winning numbers were: 44-6-61-3-5 Megaball: 25 Interestingly, Tuesday night’s Megaball was the second Megaball of 25 in a row.

This jackpot is the eighth-largest U.S. lottery prize ever.

The Mega jackpot has been growing since it was last won in New York on April 18, and it’s the second consecutive July that Mega Millions has reached this level.

Likewise, the Powerball jackpot was growing for a while until someone in California won the $1 billion jackpot.

6. $1.05 billion, Mega Millions, Jan. 22, 2021 (one ticket, from Michigan)

7. $768.4 million, Powerball, March 27, 2019 (one ticket, from Wisconsin)

8. $758.7 million, Powerball, Aug. 23, 2017 (one ticket, from Massachusetts)

9. $774.6 million, Powerball, Feb. 6, 2023 (one ticket, from Washington state)

10. $731.1 million, Powerball, Jan. 20, 2021 (one ticket, from Maryland)
