Massive 8-alarm fire destroys church in New Jersey

Firefighters are battling a massive blaze at a church in New Jersey.

The flames broke out around 6 p.m. Monday at the Fountain of Life Center located on the 2000 block of Columbus Road in Burlington County.

Choppers from station WPVI were overhead as heavy flames engulfed the structure.

Chopper 6 was overhead on March 20, 2023, as flames destroyed a church in New Jersey.

“Even though this building could not be saved, they’ve done everything they can to save our school building, which is attached through a link to the church,” said Russ Hodgins, the lead pastor.

The fire has reached eight alarms.

Robert Tharp, the fire district administrator for the Florence Township Fire Department, says crews from across South Jersey have assisted in the firefight.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Crews are expected to work through the night to get the flames under control.
