Harris suspends travel after staffer tests positive for COVID-19: Biden campaign

Kamala Harris is stepping off the campaign trail after an aide tested positive for coronavirus.

The Democratic vice presidential nominee said Thursday she will cancel all in-person campaign events until Monday to ensure she is not exposed to the deadly virus.

“This is the sort of conduct we have continuously modeled in this campaign,” said Jen O’Malley Dillon, campaign manager for Joe Biden’s presidential campaign.

Harris herself has repeatedly tested negative for COVID-19.

The campaign says the California senator was not in recent close contact with communications director Liz Allen, who tested positive late Wednesday along with a flight attendant who worked on a campaign flight.

The Biden/Harris campaign is stressing its strict compliance with coronavirus safety guidelines.

Biden wants to contrast his approach to the pandemic with that of President Trump, who has consistently downplayed the importance of respecting restrictions like wearing masks and social distancing to limit the spread of the virus.
