Police are investigating a deadly hit and run in Rockland County.

The incident happened Sunday evening on Carlton Road.

Authorities said a woman, identified as Miriam Sussman, was killed while she was walking along the road.

It’s unclear if anyone is in custody.

Ramapo Town Supervisor Michael Specht released the following statement:

“I join together with our entire community in mourning the tragic death of Mrs. Miriam Sussman on Sunday evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sussman family during this trying time, and our hearts and minds are with the entire Ramapo community that is grieving this terrible loss. The safety of all our residents is of paramount importance, and the Ramapo Police Department is thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding Mrs. Sussman’s untimely passing as she was evidently walking along Carlton Road. May the Sussman family know no further sorrow and may Mrs. Miriam Sussman’s memory be a blessing.”
